The Jupeng Bio process captures non-food, waste carbon to produce high purity ethanol.

The need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels is pressing. Bioethanol has the potential to significantly reduce our dependence on oil-derived fuels for transport. However, we are still just at the beginning of the biofuels journey. It is against this backdrop that Jupeng Bio is seeking to commercialize its leading bioethanol technology. The Jupeng Bio Ethanol is an exceptionally high performing biofuel in terms of carbon footprint and sustainability measures. It has the potential to deliver more than 90% greenhouse gas savings vs. gasoline, has the potential to be cheaper than gasoline, and does not require food crops or agricultural land.

    Bio Ethanol

Bioethanol is a renewable fuel. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to gasoline. When bioethanol is combusted, it effectively returns carbon dioxide back to the atmosphere, which had been taken out relatively recently as the biomass grew. Conversely, burning traditional gasoline releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from carbon that has been stored in the form of oil over a significantly longer time period.

There are three main approaches to producing bioethanol from biomass materials:

    1. Conventional fermentation of sugars obtained from sugar and starch crops
    2. Hydrolysis of cellulose to sugars using acid or enzymes followed by fermentation of the sugars
    3. Gasification of any organic based feedstock to syngas followed by conversion

The Jupeng Bio process falls into the third category. It is an advanced thermochemical and biochemical technology, which can convert cellulose, hemi-cellulose and lignin efficiently into clean bioethanol that can be blended with gasoline for automotive transport.

Jupeng Bio's bioethanol has been certified by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard D4806 and has been commercially produced and sold into distribution in the US.

    Jupeng Bio Ethanol Product Specification

High Purity- The Jupeng Bio process makes exceptionally pure, naturally denatured fuel grade ethanol that exceeds all U.S. and International Fuel Ethanol Specifications.

    High Stability

    • The Jupeng Bio ethanol has a high degree of stability in comparison to grain ethanol, eliminating the need for corrosion inhibitors or pH buffers.  This is due to the absence of impurities such as organic acids and aldehydes typically seen in conventional ethanol.
    • An accelerated aging test performed on the Jupeng Bio commercial cellulosic ethanol by an independent third party laboratory resulted in minimal change in the pHe over time, confirming the longer shelf life and stability of Jupeng Bio's ethanol.

    Naturally Denatured

    • The Jupeng Bio ethanol is an optimized blend of 98% ethanol and 2% butanol/high alcohol, eliminating the need for additional gasoline blending to denature the product.
    • The Jupeng Bio Ethanol naturally denatured blend is approved by the U.S. Tobacco Trade Bureau (TTB) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

    Automotive Acceptance

    • Chemical analysis and performance testing of Jupeng Bio's commercial cellulosic ethanol was conducted by a major U.S. automotive manufacturer and compared to traditional corn ethanol and cellulosic ethanol produced from various technologies.  The results of the study confirmed the high purity of Jupeng Bio's ethanol versus corn ethanol and cellulosic ethanol produced from yeast fermentation and cellulolysis, which were shown to have harmful contaminants such lignins, organic acids, aldehydes and sugars.
